Members of the Food and Agriculture Community and SCC/GCC,
Your SCC and GCC leadership participated in a Department of Homeland Security call held for Critical Infrastructure Cross-Sector Council leaders this morning to discuss last night’s terror attacks across Paris and protective measures we can take during this period of heightened awareness.

Purpose
This message provides information that may be useful to you and your stakeholders. Although there is no specific or credible intelligence against the Homeland at this time, and it does not appear that the food and agriculture sector was a primary target of these attacks, it is important to increase vigilance.

Recommended Actions
  • Review security plans for all facilities. Officials are stressing that particular focus be on facilities located near areas where crowds gather (e.g., sporting venues).
  • Ensure security plans include active shooter, shelter-in-place, and evacuation protocols.
  • Check proper functioning of emergency communications equipment and conduct regular tests.
  • Verify that employees know what to do when dangerous situations arise.
  • Most importantly, encourage all employees to report anything out of the ordinary to facility security personnel and local law enforcement immediately – whether at work or elsewhere in the community.
Supporting Information
This morning, we received an update from the DHS Under Secretary for National Protection and Programs Directorate, the Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection, DHS Intelligence & Analysis, and the Federal Protective Service. Private sector partners also provided updates on their security posture and activities to increase safety.
Please continue to visit the Homeland Security Information Network – Critical Infrastructure (HSIN-CI) main page here (log in required) to review threat information and updated open source reporting from DHS. Once on this page, look for the “Today’s New Documents” header in blue.
Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
Sincerely,
Food and Agriculture Sector Leadership
